Description
Date: August 23, 2026
Format: Virtual
Join disability advocates Jordan LeVan and Courtney Burnett for a timely virtual advocacy forum focused on major developments affecting disabled individuals, families, educators, and advocates.
During this event, Jordan and Courtney will provide updates and advocacy guidance related to:
– The Section 504 lawsuit
– The U.S. Department of Education and the future of IDEA protections
– The Olmstead decision and the right of disabled individuals to receive services in integrated community settings
– How families and advocates can challenge unnecessary institutionalization, segregation, and restrictive placements
– Practical ways to speak up, document concerns, and protect disability rights
A major focus of this discussion will be how to advocate against unnecessarily placing people who identify as disabled or who have disabilities into institutions when they could instead receive appropriate services, supports, and accommodations within their homes and communities.
Funds raised through this event will help our advocates travel to Washington, D.C., to participate in disability-rights advocacy and will support our continued education, outreach, and advocacy efforts.
By registering for this event, you agree to receive newsletter updates and advocacy-related communications from our organization. You may unsubscribe at any time.
